Run Current

When operating stepper motors, three different current settings are used:

The run current is that current which is impressed into the motor during running. When the motor has stopped, we advise changing over to a reduced stop current after a "current delay time". Through this, the thermal losses in the motor are reduced during standstill. During acceleration or deceleration a stepper motor needs – compared to steady running – more torque and therefore a higher current. So it is recommended to raise the run current to boost current during acceleration and deceleration.
